I spent my rainy Saturday curled up with Victoria Schwab’s next book, City of Ghosts. The gloomy day made it the perfect time to read this ghost story! I didn’t want to give away any spoilers, but I had to say something about this incredible book, so here’s my short, spoiler-free review.
City of Ghosts is another stellar novel from Victoria Schwab! Each book she writes just keeps setting the bar higher and higher. If you’re looking for an exciting, paranormal story that will pull on your heart strings while making you laugh, add this book to your TBR pile now!
Cassidy Blake is looking forward to spending her summer at the beach, soaking in the peace and quiet. That is, until her parents drag her along to Edinburgh, Scotland, to go ghost hunting. This may sound exciting, but for a girl who can see and talk to ghosts, it’s kind of annoying. After a near-death experience roughly a year before, Cassidy discovers she is able to venture into what she calls the Veil: that place that separates the living from the dead. What happens there? Well, more than she’d like.
This story is full of friendship, adventure, awesome Harry Potter references, and a spooky setting that will leave you wanting more. While it is a middle-grade novel, it’s a wonderful story that readers of all ages will enjoy.
Mark you calendars for its release in August, because City of Ghosts is another Victoria (V.E.) Schwab story that you won’t want to miss!
