Book Review: A Far Wilder Magic
I always have a hard time with fantasy books (the worldbuilding can be intimidating) so I was hesitant to start this one. A Far Wilder Magic by Allison Saft is a standalone novel that transported me to a magical version of the Pacific Northwest. I was completely absorbed by the atmosphere: the dull grey skies, the foggy coastline, and the thick, lush forest brimming with magic. It stole me away, and I never wanted it to end.

“The stories of Inglewell, like the tellers, are hybrids of tales from distant woods and forests.”
You’d think a story with such a bright, sunny setting wouldn’t be dark and gloomy, but that isn’t the case with Flyaway by Kathleen Jennings. Instead, this book is full of haunting stories, shattered memories, and family secrets that were buried deep for a reason.
Review: The Girl of Hawthorn and Glass
Teenage assassins, witches, magic, ghosts, and a full cast of incredibly diverse characters? What doesn’t this book have? When I first heard about The Girl of Hawthorn and Glass by Adan Jerreat-Poole, I immediately signed in to NetGalley to request an ARC, and I’m so happy I did.
Review: The Promised Neverland, Vol. 1
If you’re looking for some quick reads to add to your TBR, manga are always a great choice. They’re easy to read and have beautiful illustrations! Fans of horror and science fiction should check out The Promised Neverland by Kaiu Shirai. This story goes from zero to 100 very quickly, and will have you rushing to get your hands on the next volume.
Review: Silver in the Wood
“He knew it the same way the woodsman knew it, because he knew trees: but he also knew it with the knowledge of the Wild Man of Greenhollow, who felt every slow green beat of the forest’s heart.”
Silver in the Wood by Emily Tesh is the perfect woodland dream, filled with fae, old magic, forest folk, and love and sacrifice. It’s another wonderful novella from Tor Dot Com, and if you’re in the mood for a quick yet fully-immersive fantasy, get your hands on this book.
Review: The Spinner of Dreams
“Never be sorry for showing the world who you are or who you wish to become. These struggles have brought you exactly where you need to be.”
If you’re looking for a book to escape in to, one full of magic and adventure and ancient stories, then stop what you’re doing right now and go get a copy of The Spinner of Dreams by K. A. Reynolds. This middle grade fantasy was perfect, and gave my imagination a much-needed work out.
Review: Winterwood
“These woods are wild and rugged and unkind. They cannot be trusted. Yet, this is where I walk: deep into the mountains. Where no others dare to go. Because I am more darkness than girl. More winter shadows than August sunlight. We are the daughters of the wood, my grandmother would whisper.”
If you’re looking for a magical book to get cozy with this winter, mark your calendars for November 5 and be sure to get your hands on a copy of Winterwood by Shea Ernshaw!
Review: Nocturna
“Magic was a mask Finn had slipped over her head so many times, she’d almost forgotten what her own face looked like. But that was just how she liked it.”
Review: Wayward Children Series
Friends, I’ve had a serious book hangover ever since I finished In An Absent Dream back in January. This book was one of my most anticipated releases for 2019, and is the fourth installment in Seanan McGuire’s Wayward Children series.
