Friends, I recently read another collection of personal essays, and oh my GAWD, this one was GOOD. I really enjoy books like this, but I’ve never read one that hit so close to home before. Buy Yourself the F*cking Lilies by Tara Schuster was like looking into a mirror, if a book can be a mirror. Does that make sense? I don’t even care.

Review: The Dreamers

The Dreamers

“At first, they blamed the air. It’s an old idea, a poison by the ether, a danger carried by the wind.”

The Dreamers by Karen Thompson Walker is unlike anything I’ve read before. It’s beautifully written, but the story is tragic. It’s a book where so much yet so little happens. You meet characters and see them experience some of the best and worst that life has to offer, yet you barely come to know them at all. This book is magical, but it is not for everyone.

Review: Heartbreaker

Heartbreaker

I finished reading Claudia Day’s Heartbreaker over a month ago, but needed time to process the story before writing a full review. Over the past few weeks, though, I still haven’t fully processed everything that happened in this story. This might seem annoying to some people—not experiencing that sense of a complete story—but I’ve come to accept that’s part of what makes books so intriguing.
