Book Review: Bride

Bride by Ali Hazelwood

Bride by Ali Hazelwood was written for the ✨twilight girlies✨ and you cannot convince me otherwise 💘

Before anyone asks, here’s the dirty details: this book is incredibly vanilla. Like, there aren’t even sprinkles on top. And before y’all come for me THAT IS FINE, THIS IS NOT A BAD THING AND I’M NOT JUDGING ANYONE WHO THINKS THIS BOOK IS HAWT HAWT HAWT, but I saw so many reviews hyping up the spice and this book ain’t it. If you want something truly knotty, may I please introduce you to C.M. Nascosta’s werewolves in Moon Blooded Breeding Clinic and Run, Run Rabbit.

This book for me was:

  • Plot: 3/5
  • Spice: 2/5
  • Tension: 5/5

And overall, 100% the ultimate Bella + Jacob fanfic I didn’t know I needed (although I am forever #teamcharlieswan).

I loved Misery and how angry and fed up she was all the time. I loved how DUMB Lowe was, and adored how horrible he was at trying to keep secrets. But I was NOT a fan of quickly their third act conflict was wrapped up. Where were the details?!?!?

This book is fun and cute and will make you giggle into your pillow all night while you stay up past your bedtime reading, but for me, it read as very “this is my first paranormal romance” and “we don’t have time to explain shit so HERE, *magical HEA* complete.” There was so much potential for more, but I’m a Sucker for Vampires™️ and still gladly ate this one up.

Was it perfect? No. Am I going to keep talking about it to absolutely everyone? Hell yes! I truly hope there’s a sequel — the epilogue seems to have set one up — and I’ll devour that, too.

Favorite quotes from Bride by Ali Hazelwood

“We haven’t even been married for twenty-four hours. Praying mantises have longer honeymoon periods.”

“I would take her problems, her gifts, her moods, her passions, her jokes, her body — I would take every last thing, if she chose to give it to me.”
